Eric Thomas was homeless, but today he is the most successful man, we hardly know about his failures. Wilma Rudolf was downhearted when doctor told her that she will not able to walk. Her dream of becoming the fastest women in the world faded away and then whole thing turn upside down. Every successful person has failures in his/her life. But what makes Eric Thomas so great, what was that magic that changed the life of Wilma Rudolf; was nothing but motivation. In this essay, I would be talking about what is motivation, its types, and why is it important in everyone’s life.

Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. It involves the biological, emotional, and social forces that activate behavior. In everyday usage, the term motivation is frequently used to describe why a person does something.

Basically, there are two types of motivation; intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. First, intrinsic motivation is driven by interest, exist from within the individual. For example, joining a football team because you love playing it. Whereas, extrinsic motivation is totally opposite of what intrinsic motivation is, it comes from outside of an individual involves social recognition, trophies, rewards, praise, and money.

We all want to achieve something in our life and for our dreams to come true, we need to have fire in our belly, the true hunger for success. The story doesn’t end here; circumstances are rarely favorable for working on desires. We make goals, but then we procrastinate. We write a to-do list, but never follow through.
