Madame:

As part of the AB English Program of the TSU-College of Arts and Social Sciences, students are required to have an on-the-job training (OJT) or internship of two hundred (200) hours in a company; and we have chosen Tarlac State Universityfor this purpose. The objective is to expose the students to an actual work environment and learn to apply what they have learned in the academe.

The internship experience that we propose involves activities or tasks where our students are provided with a better idea of what they can do with their degree in English; likewise, help smoothen their transition between school and work. More specifically, the internship is expected to help them accomplish the following objectives: 1) Allow students the chance to apply the speaking, reading, writing, analysis, and/or research skills developed in the English program to the workplace while receiving supervision for performing job-related tasks; and 2) Maximize their communication background and their understanding of concepts, theories, models, and frameworks within the communication discipline, which will later on lead to jobs or employment.

The students would be required to spend a maximum of 15 hours per week or a minimum of six to eight hours per week during a semester for their internships, and opportunities given may range from paid to unpaid positions. The student may not accept pay; however, provision of free meals and travel is acceptable....
