Employee Motivation and
Organizational Behavior

What is Organizational Behavior?
Organizational behavior can be defined as the
systematic study of the behavior and attitudes of both
individuals and groups within organizations
Understanding how individuals and groups within
organizations act and react with each other in everyday
situations can be key to helping managers become more
effective both in directing their own activities, the
activities of their subordinates, and in working with
others within the organization. (DuBrin, 1984, p. 14).

What is Employee Motivation?
To define what is employee motivation we first
need to know what is motivation:
Motivation is a desire to achieve a goal, combined
with the energy to work towards that goal . Without
motivation, any type of business that relies on
human resource is bound to go down.
Employee motivation is the desire of an employee
to reach a certain goal.(TMLP & TMS, 2013)

Employee Morale
 Incentive Programs
 Fair Policies

EMPLOYEE MORALE
The employer should begin by examining their
employee’s and finding out what their needs, goals,
and expectations are. If you think about it, when an
organization pays an employee to perform a task, it is
basically helping them meet their basic needs, such
as being able to afford to pay for basic necessities
such as food and shelter. In addition, if the
organization provides health benefits and creative
culture it is working to help the employees meet both
first and secondary needs which in turn will motivate
them to continue working.(Grantham, 2013)

INCENTIVE PROGRAMS
Employee incentive programs promote work
place harmony, employee performance and
most of all employee motivation. This is the key
to long term benefits for your company.
Motivated employees means staff retention and
company loyalty, these are two things that will
have a significant impact on the growth and
development of your business. (Accel, 2013)

FAIR POLICIES
Many employees will keep a higher level
of motivation and productivity where they
feel that they have a fair chance to succeed
and feel respected and listened to by peers
and leadership.(Grantham, 2013)

QUOTES

concerned about them as a whole person - not just an
employee - are more productive, more satisfied, more
fulfilled. Satisfied employees mean satisfied customers,
which leads to profitability.” Anne M. Mulcahy.

“This is the only country in the world where today`s
employee, is tomorrow`s employer.” Marco Rubio.
